It wasn’t a wrong statement. But doubts still remained.
“Then what was the point of lying and saying you’re a beta until now?”
This time, Dein answered without hesitation.
“It’s just that saying I’m an omega would make things more troublesome. There’s no other reason.”

Dein smirked.

Grayson wanted to ask why he hadn’t wanted to reveal it to him, but he didn’t say anything. He already knew the
answer.

Meanwhile, Dein hadn’t been feeling good since she had left. To be precise, it had started right after he had released pheromones to her. He had never used them before, so he hadn’t realized, but after the awakening, it had become uncomfortable every time he used pheromones.

“You should go now. I should start preparing dinner.”

Dein answered, annoyed, but he did it. Maybe it would be the last chance. He felt sure that this was the only opportunity for such a conversation with Grayson.
“If you were a beta, what would have happened in this situation?”
Dein answered the meaningless hypothetical question without much care.
“Nothing would have changed much. If this had been useful, I would have had the surgery done a long time ago.” “What?”
Grayson was momentarily  surprised, and Dein still looked at him with a neutral expression.
“Since I’m not having kids anyway, what’s the point of keeping it? It’s much easier to get the surgery, then this kind of awkward situation wouldn’t happen.”
“… Really, like that?”
Grayson murmured in shock, but Dein responded as if it was obvious.
“Miller, I still use condoms. Even though it’s useless sperm, I still go through that hassle. So, in a situation where I might get pregnant, do you think I would just carelessly fool around relying on condoms alone?”
Dein poked Grayson’s chest with his second finger and sneered.
“You extreme alphas say you can control conception, so you probably never thought about such things.”
His smile was full of irritation. He decided to stop talking about this. Grayson could clearly read his thoughts. It was time for him to leave. No more questions, a few fake pictures of Darling, a simple goodbye, and then out the door.

“What would you do if you got pregnant?”
“What?”
Dein turned around in surprise at the unexpected question. There was still a chance. He could just turn around and leave if it was nothing.
But he wanted to know. Why did this man react with such disgust and intense hatred at the thought of having his child?
“What would you do if a child came from between you and me?”
“There’s no such thing. Why are you even imagining that? You saw me taking the medication.”
Dein’s tone was firm. He was clearly showing how unpleasant he felt about having this conversation, but Grayson stubbornly continued.
“That medicine isn’t guaranteed, right?”
“What?”
“It wasn’t officially approved, was it? So, how can we be sure it works?”
Dein’s brow furrowed even more. He opened his mouth as if to say something but ended up closing his eyes and tilting his head back.
“Haa.”
Letting out a deep sigh, Dein spoke in a tone that suggested he was tired of the conversation.
“Fine, I’ll go to the hospital and confirm it. I just need to show you that there’s no child, right?”
He thought Grayson was doing this because he was afraid of any troublesome issues. The reason Grayson was so persistent didn’t come to him as anything else. This man, despite his talk of fate, was living as irresponsibly as Dein, hoping he wouldn’t have to take responsibility.
“If you got pregnant, I would have rights too.”
The sudden words broke Dein’s thoughts. He looked down from the ceiling and then stared at Grayson. A cold fury seeped into Dein’s eyes.
“What rights?”
He narrowed his eyes and asked again, his voice growing rough.
“Rights? What rights do you have? This is my body, what the hell are you talking about? Just because I slept with you once, do you think you own something? Don’t be ridiculous!”
Grayson tried to say something more, but Dein was faster. He grabbed Grayson by the collar and spat out angrily.
“How many times do I have to say it? I’m not pregnant. Even if I did, I didn’t. Got it? Fuck, stop bothering me and get out!”
“Just because you scream at me and get mad doesn’t change anything, we are-“
“We are what? Slept together? So what?”
Dein yelled as if he were going to hit him right then and there. Grayson wanted to tell him to calm down, but he knew that would only pour more fuel to the fire. So, he tried to persuade him as calmly as he could.
“You were my first, so…”
It wasn’t a good approach, but…
“So? You’re going to take responsibility?”
Dein let out a hollow laugh, as if he were in disbelief. This crazy bastard, he gritted his teeth and muttered in his
mouth.
“Grayson Miller.”
He spat out his name as if chewing it.
“Do you know why I haven’t marked anyone until now?”
At the unexpected question, Grayson paused, and Dein gave him a terrifying look as he answered.
“Because I was afraid I might accidentally get pregnant.”
Shocked, Grayson opened his mouth, and Dein quickly spilled his words.
“I don’t want to have a child. Never, I’ll never have anyone’s child in my lifetime. So what? Rights? What rights does
a child who might not even exist have?”
“Dein.”
“Shut up!”
Grayson tried to say something more, but Dein shouted to stop him.
“Why are you being so clingy? You said you don’t sleep with the same person twice?”
At that, Grayson looked as if he had been struck by lightning. Seeing him react like a normal person made Dein more disgusted. He probably was just mimicking it.
“Get out, right now. Get out of my house!”
“Wait.”
Grayson tried to say something else, but Dein didn’t listen. He grabbed Grayson by the collar and dragged him to the entrance, and as soon as he opened the door, he shoved him out forcefully. Grayson nearly stumbled, and Dein slammed the door shut immediately. The sound of the locks turning echoed.
“…Hah.”
Grayson swept his hair back and let out a despondent sigh. Looking at himself, he felt utterly pathetic. To be thrown out by the owner and standing there in front of the door.
He was wearing slippers on one foot, but the other foot didn’t even have a slipper. Looking at the sock-clad foot on the ground, Grayson let out another frustrated sigh, took off the remaining slipper, and put on the pair of shoes
he had neatly arranged.
“Dammit.”
Soon after, he cursed and kicked the door with a forceful thud.
A few minutes later, Dein saw Grayson’s car leaving from the living room window.
