A cold silence fell in the room. No one spoke. The woman, gazing up at Dein with a desperate expression, and Dein, looking down at her with an unreadable face, while Grayson stood frozen, pale, watching them.
“… What did you say?”
Dein asked, breaking the silence. The woman took a deep breath before responding.
“I’m pregnant, with your child.”
…What is this woman talking about?
Grayson furrowed his brow in disbelief. How could Dein have gotten this woman pregnant? The idea was absurd. “She’s insane, there’s no need to deal with her.”
Grayson immediately intervened, pushing the woman aside with a soft but firm grip on her shoulder, offering a smile.
“I think you’ve come to the wrong house.”
“Let go of me, what are you doing?”
The woman jerked away from Grayson’s hand and yelled, her voice shrill. Just as Grayson was about to speak again, Dein suddenly blocked his path.
“Don’t touch the woman.”
“…Huh.”
Grayson was stunned and looked at Dein. What did he just say? I’m the one backing you up, and you’re siding with this nonsense-spouting woman?
A soft meow came from the cat, and Dein shot Grayson a sharp look. He didn’t say anything, but his actions spoke volumes.
Pheromones.
Grayson realized, somewhat to his surprise, that he was unconsciously releasing a potent pheromone. Naturally, it made sense. He was furious.
But Dein glared at him with an intimidating gaze. He didn’t care about Grayson’s anger. All that mattered was that his precious cat, Darling, was being threatened by Grayson’s pheromones. That fact alone was enough to make Grayson even more incredulous.
“Grayson Miller.”
Dein called his name again, his pheromones still overwhelming. At this point, Grayson knew it was better to restrain himself and suppress the scent. As it faded, Dein turned back to the woman. Grayson felt his pride wounded but couldn’t do anything about it.
This absurd situation was bound to end soon, but that didn’t mean the unpleasant feelings were going away. As long as Dein kept his nature hidden, things would continue to spiral.
Of course, he would keep it a secret. Omega traits were usually hidden. In reality, the guy was pretending to be a Beta…

Grayson’s mind became cold and calculating. He already knew what actions to take, mentally preparing for the next steps while silently observing her. The woman, despite the heavy stares of the towering men around her, looked up at him and spoke in a trembling voice.

“No need.”
Dein suddenly blocked her from entering the house. She looked up at him in surprise as he spoke in an indifferent
tone.
“If you’re pregnant, it’s not my child.”
“What?”
The woman, caught off guard, raised her voice. Clearly, this wasn’t what she had expected.

Grayson froze, but Dein spoke calmly, as if it were nothing.
“Sorry, but I’m an omega.”
Her eyes widened in shock. Grayson was equally surprised. To reveal his nature? So easily? Well, it was the simplest solution…
“What?”
After a few seconds of stunned silence, she repeated her question. Looking down at her, whose expression was probably as startled as Grayson’s, Dein continued, still calmly.
“I’m an omega. I can’t get you pregnant. Find someone else.”
“That’s impossible… That can’t be…”
Shaking her head in disbelief, the woman gave a hollow laugh.
“Are you lying to get out of it? Don’t talk nonsense. How could you be an omega? You expect me to believe that? Such an obvious lie?”
“It’s true.”
Dein stated it again, firmly. Then, faint pheromones began to emanate from him. The woman blinked rapidly, her eyes wide, before shaking her head.
“No, that’s impossible… It can’t be…”
She kept denying it, but the evidence was undeniable. She glanced at Grayson, who stood behind her, his cynical gaze trampling on her futile hopes.
“Do I look like an omega?”
Her startled reaction made her shrink back, biting her lip and lowering her head. Dein looked down at her trembling form before speaking.
“There must be another candidate, right?”
She slowly shook her head.
“No.”
“Think again.”
“No, no!”
Her shaking head became more intense. Finally, she screamed out in desperation.
“It can’t be that guy! No, I won’t accept it!”
With her loud cry, Dein finally spoke.
“You were hoping I’d be the father.”
The woman froze and looked up at him. Tears welled up in her eyes, and though she looked pitiful and forlorn, nothing changed. Dein’s voice remained emotionless.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t take responsibility for something I didn’t do.”
He continued in a calm tone.
“And you were wrong about me. Maybe you judged me based on my job as a firefighter, but I’m not the type to take responsibility and build a family.”
The words hit Grayson too, oddly resonating with him. He furrowed his brows and turned his gaze toward Dein, but the woman spoke again.
“But he’d be better than that guy.”
The woman’s stubborn words made Dein chuckle lightly, then he added with a slightly lighter tone.
“Do you really trust someone who goes to clubs almost every day and sleeps with someone new?”
The woman didn’t laugh. Instead, she sniffled and wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. Watching her, Dein spoke again.
“…If you have no one to go with to the hospital, I’ll help you.”
Why?
Grayson didn’t understand, but he didn’t want to prolong this uncomfortable moment, so he kept silent. The woman got into the taxi that Dein called for her and left. By the time they were alone again, over an hour had
passed.
“Haah.”
Dein sighed deeply, as if frustrated, rubbing his forehead with one hand. After the taxi with the woman disappeared, he returned to the house, heading straight to the table and gulping down the cold coffee as if it were water. Once he emptied the cup with a few big swigs, he finally set it down. Grayson, who had been silently
watching, spoke up.
“Does this happen often?”
In response to his quiet question, Dein wiped his lips with the back of his hand and answered.
“Not often, just sometimes.”
So it had happened several times before. That explains why his handling of the situation earlier seemed so familiar. Grayson muttered to himself as he looked at Dein.
“Good thing you’re an omega.”
Dein glared at him, as if to ask what he was talking about. But Grayson remained silent, just looking at him with furrowed brows, a deep frown marking his face.
If Dein had been a Beta…
Grayson’s heart turned cold. He knew Dein probably would have taken precautions, but if he had accidentally gotten her pregnant, he would have had to take responsibility. He would have become the perfect husband and father, creating a lovely family.
The thought of it made Grayson seethe with jealousy, his insides burning.
Dein had declared he couldn’t be that type of person, but Grayson knew better. This man, though not family- oriented, was undoubtedly responsible. He would have dedicated his remaining life to his family. Whether or not he would be satisfied with that was another matter.
“If you have something to say, say it.”
Dein’s voice broke through Grayson’s thoughts. When Grayson looked at him, Dein was still standing there, waiting for him to speak. After a brief pause, Grayson asked the question that had been on his mind.
“Why did you reveal your nature so easily?”
Dein, unexpectedly, answered without hesitation.
“Because I was the easiest solution.”
He then added nonchalantly.
“Being an omega doesn’t change anything in my life.”
