Desire Me If You Can [Novel] - Chapter 64
The handsome man with dark brown hair spoke, and the blonde man behind him gruffly spat out his words.
“When you say Miller, I just grit my teeth. He couldn’t help it because of the money.”
“Henry, I told you not to gamble…”
“Can’t you just shut up?”
As soon as another brown-haired man spoke, Henry kicked him in the shin. “Aah!” The scream rang out as the man hopped on one foot. The oldest-looking man in the group sighed and spoke.
“Henry, stop hitting Isaac.”
He said this without showing any real intention to stop. It seemed like just a customary comment, something said out of politeness. He then quickly turned his attention to Dane.
“Well, we’ve done our part, so we’ll leave now. Hey, stop it, and fall back.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the other three men quickly distanced themselves, disappearing as if they had seen something they shouldn’t have and touching something they shouldn’t have. Dane couldn’t help but feel dumbfounded.
“The job went well. But what the hell are those guys? They ran off, disgusted.”
Dane called for a quick report before the helicopter took off, and Joshua answered with a laugh.
• Ah, my bodyguard colleagues. They didn’t want to be involved in this, but in the end, their goals aligned.
When Dane had a vague sense of what that meant, Joshua continued.
⚫ I’ll be waiting, thanks for everything.
And then he added.
• Don’t believe anything Grayson says, it’s never the truth. He lies so naturally, you’d think it’s real.
“I know.”
Dane said, still looking at the unconscious Grayson.
“I know enough about this guy.”
• Seems like you’ve been through a lot too.
Joshua’s voice, tinged with faint sympathy, made Dane furrow his brow. As if he had seen his reaction in person, Joshua finished his sentence.
• Don’t let your guard down until the end, Grayson Miller is not someone who’ll go down easily.
Dane cynically asked him one more time.
“Knowing that, aren’t you being reckless putting everything on me?”
Joshua let out a short laugh from the other side.
• You’re capable of handling it.
Dane didn’t bother responding any further and hung up. Now, he was on a large military helicopter, with just the pilot and Grayson, heading toward a remote villa.
He had said it would be over in two days at most.
Dane thought back. He had told his superior that the shock from his salary being cut was too much, so he would be taking a week off. He had planned for extra time just in case, but if he had time left, he intended to return early. His superior, with a downcast face, had agreed.
Darling was left at the hospital for a health check-up. To make sure Darling wouldn’t feel anxious, he had coated his clothes with pheromones and left them with him, so he would be at ease for the time being.
The things weighing on his mind had been dealt with or handled. Now, only this guy remained.
Dane stared at the man across from him, still unconscious with his eyes closed.
In this situation, the best possible outcome… that was obvious.
Dane envisioned the situation in his mind. Chase Miller confronting Grayson, venting his frustrations and anger about all the things he had suffered from him, while Joshua and Dane watched.
Would Grayson Miller ever understand what remorse is?
Of course not. Dane immediately dismissed the thought and added to himself.
That’s what we’re going to make him realize.
If Grayson Miller apologized to Joshua’s family and promised never to appear before him again, Dane would have no further wishes.
But no matter how much he thought about it, the situation seemed so unrealistic. The thought of an alien appearing in front of him and telling him the Powerball numbers felt more realistic than this scenario. He couldn’t help but sigh at such an impossible thought.
Am I just doing something pointless?
But then he thought of Darling’s health check-up, and that gave him some comfort. At least it wasn’t a complete waste. The check-up would take two days, and in case he couldn’t pick Darling up or something happened to him, he had already arranged for Yeonwoo to take care of it. Yeonwoo had readily agreed, even meeting with Darling beforehand, greeting him, and taking responsibility as his guardian while following him to the hospital to take care of him.
After all, Yeonwoo had been grateful to Dane ever since he had helped him out of a tight spot once, fulfilling a favor from Joshua. It was easy for him to accept such a request.

Then again, Yeonwoo had things to apologize to me for, too.
The loud sound of the helicopter blades continued to roar. For a while, Dane sat silently, watching Grayson.
“Hey.”
He spoke, his arms crossed as he looked at Grayson, who remained motionless.
“When are you going to stop pretending? I’m bored, wake up.”
But Grayson remained still, eyes closed. After staring for a moment, Dane stood up, about to slap Grayson’s cheek
without hesitation.
“Heh heh.”
Just as Dane raised his hand, a laugh echoed from below. Grayson was shaking his shoulders and laughing. Of course. As Dane lowered his hand, Grayson opened his eyes and sat up.
“How did you know? That I was awake.”
“Your acting is pathetic.” Dane returned to his seat, crossing his legs. Grayson raised his hands, shackled by cuffs, and shook them, then
gave a lewd smile.
“So, this is why you kidnapped me.”
Dane raised his fist silently, showing it to Grayson, as if warning him. One more stupid word, and he wouldn’t hold
back.
“Why did you pretend to be unconscious? If you were awake, you could’ve resisted or run away
already.”
At Dane’s question, Grayson casually replied.
“I was curious about what you were going to do.”
Dane brought him back to reality.
“You’re being kidnapped.”
“Yeah, I know.” The response was disturbingly calm. It seemed like he was even enjoying it, making Dane furrow his brow.
“Do you know why?”
“Well, I’ll find out when I get there.”
Grayson responded lightly to the provocative question, indifferent, as if this whole situation had nothing to do with
him, causing Dane’s frown to deepen.
What’s his game?
At that moment, Dane noticed something strange. Grayson was still smiling, but it was awkward.
The reason became clear soon. He was shaking all over.
“…What’s going on?”
At Dane’s question, Grayson blinked rapidly, as if asking what he meant. There was something abnormal about
him. He blinked excessively and was sweating cold. Dane irritably pointed at him.
“What’s going on? Why are you acting like this?”
“What? Ah…”
Finally, Grayson seemed to understand, lifting his lips in a half-hearted smile.
“I have a fear of heights.”
“What?”
Dane, startled, raised his voice without meaning to. Grayson’s face looked ashen, beads of sweat visible on his
temples, and his smile was grotesque. But Dane couldn’t trust him.
“Why don’t you just faint again?”
With sneer, Grayson responded with a forced smile.
“I’d love to, but it’s not that easy.”
His tone sounded unusually downbeat. Dane, though still not believing him, couldn’t help but feel uneasy.
…Is this for real? Psychopaths are excellent at pretending. Lying to manipulate others is something they do so easily. With their
acting skills, they make people trust them completely. Just like he did with Ezra.
“Don’t make me laugh. Do you think I’ll fall for your cheap acting?”
Dane said, cursing, and Grayson smiled.
“I hope you do.”
Grayson’s face was now pale. His breathing was ragged, and his body was shaking violently, as though having a
seizure.
…Is this for real?
Dane, reluctantly, stood up and moved closer to him.
“Hey, are you okay? Hang in there. How much longer until we get there?”
The face he saw up close was incredibly serious. His violet eyes were unfocused, shaking uncontrollably, and the surrounding pheromones were scattered erratically. It seemed like he was about to go into shock. Damn it, why the hell did I put him on a helicopter when he has a fear of heights?
He briefly cursed Joshua, but quickly changed his thoughts. They might not have known either. Anyway, the
important thing now was to fix the situation immediately.
“Get a grip, Miller! Get a grip. Do you need anything?”
Shaking him roughly by the shoulder, Grayson stuttered, trembling all over.
“Water… water, please.”
Desperately repeating himself, Dane turned to quickly grab a bottle of water. When he unscrewed the cap and
turned around…
“…Ugh!”
A sharp wind hit him, and Dane let out a rough groan. He looked up in confusion and witnessed the unimaginable.
Grayson had opened the helicopter door and was standing right in front of it
Then again, Yeonwoo had things to apologize to me for, too.
