Desire Me If You Can [Novel] - Chapter 63
• “Why are we trying to kidnap Grayson?”
Before carrying out the plan, Dane asked, and Joshua looked a little taken aback before answering with a sigh.
• “Chase has suffered a lot at the hands of that bastard.”
“What kind of suffering?”
At Dane’s question, Joshua paused for a moment before answering. After hearing about the history of how Grayson had wronged Chase when they were kids, Dane found himself at a loss for words. Moreover, the last incident was even more shocking.
“Did he even lie about something like that?”
At Dane’s question, Joshua simply responded, “Yeah,” and continued.
• “Because of that, Chase developed a trauma and still hates dogs. It’s understandable that he would hold a grudge against Grayson.”
Dane, who had remained silent, asked again.
“So, you think kidnapping Grayson and beating him up will make Chase feel better?”
• “It’s not like we’re planning to beat him senseless.”
Joshua continued.
• “First, I want Chase to talk about why he was so angry and hurt. Of course, we need to shut Grayson up, or else he’ll definitely mess with Chase’s mind again.”
That would be the plan. Dane agreed with that part. Then Joshua spoke again.
• “If that doesn’t help him feel better, I might hit him a few times, but I hope it doesn’t come to that. I just want to help Chase heal from the wounds of the past.”
And then he added:
• “If you want to hit him, I won’t stop you.”
With a chuckle in his voice, Dane didn’t say anything more and hung up the phone.
He now understood that this was something they needed to do. Verbal abuse can sometimes leave deeper scars on the soul than physical abuse. If it helps Chase heal, it’s not a bad thing, and Grayson would also get what he deserves-it’s the law of cause and effect.
From Dane’s perspective…
(Are you an omega?>
His words suddenly came to mind, and Dane furrowed his brow. Anyway, if they could just get rid of Grayson Miller right in front of them, he wouldn’t ask for anything more.
After all, if this worked out, they would be able to deal a blow just as effectively as hitting him.
With that thought, he returned to the present. The bright sunshine shone all around. This kind of weather isn’t great for carrying out a job. But it was as pointless to wish for bad weather in California as hoping that a cat wouldn’t knock over a glass on the table, so Dane had given up on that idea long ago.
Everything was ready. It was far more advantageous than a sandy terrain. Moreover, this location was one he had chosen himself. The plan was simple: just give the wrong directions.
The day before, Dane had swapped the birthday invitation card made by Ezra. On the outside, there was a drawing made by a child, and when the card was opened, the crookedly written invitation message appeared: “You’re invited to the birthday party.” On the back of that simple message was the address printed by Ezra.
Dane had received this invitation before anyone else. The method was simple.
(Do you want help making the invitation?)
(Really? Is that okay?)
Ezra had happily accepted Dane’s offer. Ezra, who had been grumbling about not having enough time to play with the kids, welcomed the offer, and Dane, barely paying attention, agreed. From there, Dane made one invitation with a different address printed on it. He placed it inside Grayson’s cabinet. That simple trick made it easy for him to carry out the plan.
No one would think that the invitation they received had a different address.
By suggesting to Ezra that the cards be distributed just before the birthday, he had successfully eliminated any chance of suspicion. Everyone who received the cards just before leaving work had no time for anything other than admiring the design. And now, Dane was hiding in a secluded forest path, waiting for Grayson Miller.
This pre-selected location was perfect for carrying out his task. The unpaved road with dirt exposed was barely wide enough for one car to pass. There was nothing at the end of the road.
After hiding and observing for two days, not a single car passed through this path. The choice was perfect. Now, all that was left was to capture Grayson.
The tall weeds and bushes on either side provided the perfect cover. He waited for Grayson’s car while preparing a spike trap. The whole thing would be over in just 1 or 2 seconds. Grayson wouldn’t be able to avoid it.
And then…
Beep, the transmitter he had attached to Grayson’s car sent a signal. Although he had thought there was a chance Grayson might be in a different car, it turned out there were no variables. Even if Grayson had been in a different car, he was the only one who would come down this path, so the result wouldn’t have changed.
Dane hid in the tall grass, waiting for the car to approach. From far off, a fancy European car sped towards him. Soon, without realizing what would happen to him…
Three. Two. One.
Right at that moment, Dane threw the spike trap to the ground.
BANG, BANG, BANG!
The tire exploded suddenly, and the car, which had been speeding, spun around and veered off the road. The car made a loud sound as it tumbled down the slope. This was exactly what Dane had expected. He immediately emerged from his hiding spot. Standing for a moment, he looked down at the car that had flipped over, but there was no reaction. If Grayson had not lost consciousness and walked out of the car, Dane was prepared to execute the next phase of the plan. But that didn’t happen. After waiting for five more minutes, Dane descended the slope.
The loud helicopter sound pierced his ears.
He hadn’t expected to hear this sound again.
Dane sighed and sat with his arms crossed. The helicopter Joshua had arranged was unexpectedly military- grade. When he arrived at the designated location and saw the enormous helicopter, he suddenly recalled…
How could an ordinary person…?
But then he changed his thoughts. Not an ordinary person-Miller. A man who had never fallen out of the top ranks of wealthy Americans, and now, with the president’s power in his sight… the man’s son.
Of course, he could have anything he wanted. Dane thought to himself as he climbed aboard the helicopter. Inside the helicopter were the pilot, Dane, and Grayson-just the three of them. The men who had helped with the transport didn’t join them.
“Our job is done here,” the pilot said.
